Acupuncture

Acupuncture needles are hair-thin stainless steel threads that are tapered to a point.  Upon insertion of an acupuncture needle some patients will experience a pinch-like or tingling sensation and then it quickly leaves. Other patients cannot tell if a needle has been inserted.

From a Western medicine perspective, research has shown that the body releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, in response to acupuncture. More recent experiments have shown that acupuncture stimulates immune system cells as well as neurotransmitters and neurohormones in the brain.

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body to regulate the flow of energy (or Qi) and promote balance.

Just in case you were wondering…the acupuncture needles are all individually packaged, sterilized, and disposed of after one use.

We sometimes use acupuncture to augment our individualized treatments, based on your needs.
